First Show
I've been wanting to catch a Ginny Marie show since I'd noticed that Sophia Johnson was playing in her band. I finally managed to catch them for an hour or so yesterday afternoon at Craft Pride down on Rainey Street. I tend to avoid Rainey Street because parking is terrible. But, I decided I'd risk it on a Sunday afternoon. I'm not sorry I made the effort! They had Sophia on guitar, Ileana Nina on fiddle, and Curtis Sigurd on upright bass. My Instagram clips:
- Ginny Marie found her love in Avalon
- A fun cover is always a good idea - 3 parts
- Bang bang! - 2 parts
Second Show
I hit the road as soon as the Ginny Marie show ended and drove down to Gruene Hall to see Jeff Plankenhorn's last show before he heads off to Canada for a couple of months. I'm so glad I made it. He and the band were in fine form. He had Dave Scher on guitar, Yoggie Musgrove on bass, and Brian Mendes on drums. My Instagram clips:
- Singing a song for his gal
- Singing a song he wrote with Chris Buhalis - Inspired by the Chris Buhalis t-shirt I was wearing!
- Dave Scher played the set break so he got no break - 2-parter
- A guy from the audience named Johnny Santos who just wanted Dave to play a song in G - also in 2 parts
