I had a tough time deciding what to use as my first photo. I'm sure that problem won't go away anytime soon! But...I was flipping though the possibilities and landed on some photos I'd taken of the VLA (Very Large Array) a few years ago. And, since the movie Contact is such hot stuff right now, it seemed a good choice. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I have seen the trailers and everytime I see the scene with Jodie at the VLA, I think of home. My folks' home. Magdalena, New Mexico. It's a small town about 25 miles east of the VLA. You can actually see all 27 antennae in the photo if you look closely. I remember it being tough getting an angle that allowed us to see each antenna. But, we found it and I snapped a few photos. Look at those clouds...they almost look fake, don't they?
