The game was scheduled for a 6:30 start but was moved up to 2:30 since the weather was rather cold. It was still quite chilly playing in the afternoon with the temperature hovering in the high 40s with a pretty stiff wind blowing in from cf for almost the entire game.

Things started off with a bang when Cridland hit his 5th homerun of the year in the bottom of the 1st. The team never looked back. Richardson, back in the lead-off spot, went 3-for-5 with a triple and 3 runs scored. Five Longhorn players scored 3 runs in the game: Richardson, Moore, Kolbach, Johnson, and Sepulveda. Cridland went 4-for-6 with a homerun, 3 doubles, and 6 runs batted in. The team's 25 hits tied a modern-day team record (set in 1953 against Baylor) and the 6 triples broke one (5 triples had been hit in one game in 1975 against Texas Lutheran, in 1989 against Southwestern, and again in 1992 against Stephen F. Austin).

Going into the game, the coaches decided several pitchers would get some work. Dunn pitched two 1-2-3 innings to start things off, with 3 strikeouts. Seibel didn't fare as well, giving up at least 1 run in each of the 3 innings in which he pitched. He had a bit of bad luck, though, when Richardson dropped a fly ball in the 4th. And, then, in the 5th, with 2 men on and 2 outs, he gave up a homerun to Dettman who fought off at least 5 or 6 1-2 pitches before hitting the homer. Munroe then matched Dunn's outing, also facing 6 batters and throwing 3 strikeouts. Kautsch pitched the final two innings allowing one hit, one walk, and throwing 3 strikeouts.

And, so...
