I went golfing with my folks and listened to the game on my walkman as we strolled the links. And, may I just say: yikes! What a close one.

The game seemed so in-hand as that final 7th inning rolled around. It was another travel-plans shortened game. The teams agreed ahead of time that no inning would start past 4:45 (Miami time) to allow Texas time to make their 6:40 flight out of Miami. The game was supposed to start at 1 p.m. but was delayed 'til 2:35 p.m. due to heavy rains.

I think the offensive play of the day was Richardson's 3-run double in the 4th. Halter had his best start of the year to take the win and Loeffler hit his first homer of the year to score what turned out to be the game-winning run. Munroe came on to face Burrell (after Miami had closed the gap to one run in the bottom of the 7th) and got him to fly out to cf to end the game. The box in the paper didn't credit him with a save but I don't see how you could not give him one. So, I did. I'm sure the official scorer did as well. Also, the box doesn't make it clear but I think both Miami errors were charged to Gil (the starting pitcher).
