Comments

The Horns took advantage of a few errors and pounded USC today. I listened to the game on the radio and kept score. Forgive any errors that may appear in the box as a result.

Richardson and Cridland both scored 3 runs. Cridland, Cox, Moore, Aspito, and Nicholson all had extra base hits. Moore had 2 doubles in the crucial 4th inning as the Horns sent 11 to bat. Aspito's and Nicholson's homeruns were both scored in the 6th. Seibel took the win, pitching 5 innings. Munroe and Kautsch helped keep the Trojans at bay for the remainder of the game. It sounded like there were several nice defensive plays made. Overall, it sounded like the guys were having a great time.

    • During Moore's at bat, the pitcher managed to pick Richardson off at 1b. But, the first baseman threw low to 2b. The ball got through to lf (e3) and Richardson made it safely to 3b.
    • Moore walked.
    • Loeffler singled to lf (rbi). Richardson scored. Moore moved to 2b.
    • Ivy grounded out to 1b (3u).
  • USC (1 earned run):
    • Rachels flew out to cf.
    • DePippo walked.
    • Gorr bunted safely down the 3b line. DePippo moved to 2b.
    • Munson singled to rf (rbi). DePippo scored. Gorr moved to 3b.
    • Ensberg hit into a 5-4-3 double play.

    • Rachels reached on an infield single. Ivy managed to knock the ball down but he didn't have time to make the play at 1b.

    • Gorr flew out to cf.
    • Munson homered (3 rbi).
    • Ensberg flew out to cf.
    • Ticehurst popped out to 2b (in shallow rf).
• 4th inning
  • Texas (7 unearned runs):
    • Moore doubled down the lf line.
    • Loeffler reached on an error (e1). Loeffler bunted down the 1b line. The first baseman dropped the ball as he fielded and tried to throw to the second baseman covering 1b. Moore moved to 3b.
    • Ivy reached on an error (e5). The third baseman dropped a line drive that hit him in the chest. He was unable to recover in time to make the out at 1b. Loeffler moved to 2b.
    • Sepulveda struck out looking.
    • During Kolbach's at bat, Moore scored on a wild pitch. Loeffler moved to 3b and Ivy to 2b.
    • Kolbach walked.
    • Nicholson hit a sac fly to cf (rbi). Loeffler scored. USC protested the call saying Loeffler left 3b early. He was ruled safe, though. The radio announcers acknowledged that it was a very close play and tough for the umps to rule on since the game was being officiated by a two-man crew.
    • Richardson walked to load the bases.
    • Cridland was hit by a pitch (rbi). Ivy scored. Kolbach moved to 3b. Richardson moved to 2b.
    • USC sent Weibling in to pitch.
    • Cox singled to rf (2 rbi). Kolbach and Richardson scored. Cridland moved to 3b.
    • During Moore's at bat, Cox stole 2b.
    • Moore doubled down the lf line (2 rbi). Cridland and Cox both scored.
    • USC sent Jones in to pitch.
    • Moore moved to 3b on a wild pitch during Loeffler's at bat.
    • Loeffler was called out on strikes.

    • Freitas singled.
    • Persell (pinch hitting for Davidson) hit into a 4-6-3 double play.
