Orange Team Rallies for a 4-3 Win in Opener of Fall Classic
Meadows Scores Winning Run in Bottom of the Seventh After Tying Game at 3-3

AUSTIN, TX - Freshman Tim Meadows hit a game-tying double and then scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh and final inning to lead the University of Texas Orange squad to a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the University of Texas White team in game one of the Fall World Series.

After Meadows had driven in senior Mark Cridland, who was 1-for-2 with two runs scored on the afternoon, with a one-out double, fellow newcomer Rodney Guerrero delivered a clutch two-out single to drive in the freshman catcher with the winning run.

Sophomore Brian Ivy and junior Shawn Schumacher also combined to drive in two runs for the Orange.

The White squad was staked to a 3-2 lead through six innings of the seven-inning matchup as senior Matt Simpson went 2-for-2 with a run scored and the upperclassmen pair of Dan Roth and Jason Cox each went 2-for-3. Other contributions were provided by the freshmen tandem of Mike Kolbach, who also pitched two innings in relief and was saddled with the loss, and Carlos Sepulveda, who each drove in a run for the White.

Junior Frank Halter picked up the win for the Orange, giving up only one hit in two innings of work while striking out two in relief of Beau Hale.
