Comments
I listened to the game on the radio and kept score as I listened. It
was an...interesting game. To say the least. I don't really even know
where to begin with my comments. I'm glad I was able to update the
game summary as the game was in progress because I don't think I could
ever have made sense of the box! All of the Nebraska players scored at
least 2 runs. Two players came up to bat 7 times...very unusual. And,
Nebraska scored at least two runs in every inning except the 3rd.
Nebraska hit 5 homeruns. Texas hit 6 (to tie a school record set in
1953 against Baylor and in 1989 against Houston). I'd guess the
combined number of homeruns is a new record and that the combined
number of hits (40) is close to one. Carter and Johnson both hit two
homers. Johnson was a triple short of hitting for the cycle. Several
balls (I can't even remember how many at this point) were lost in the
sun and misplayed by fielders on both teams allowing extra-base hits
and runs scored. On another "unusual" note, of the four
batters hit by Clements, 3 of them were in the 6th inning...and Moore
was hit two of those times (as the lead-off batter and as the 10th
batter of the inning). All-in-all, it was a very strange game. What a
way to end the season.
And, so...

Collins broke the Nebraska school record for the most hits in a
season (104, I believe).
- Durham grounded out to 2b.
- 9th inning
- Texas:
- Nebraska apparently sent Knust in to play catcher. His substitution
was not announced by the radio announcers but his name was called as
the catcher during Loeffler's at-bat. There may have been other
substitutions as well.
- Cridland grounded out to 1b (3U).
- Nebraska sent Jackson in to pitch.
- Loeffler popped up to 1b (foul).

was not listed on this year's official roster. A walk on, he acted

on this road trip as a bit of a reward for all his hard work over
the course of the year.
- Johnson singled to lf. Gonzales moved to 2b.

On the play, for the umpteenth time this game, the fielder lost the
