Comments

The Horns completed a 3-game sweep of TCU today by taking advantage of the offensive opportunities they created and playing top-notch defense. Adare pitched 6 innings (scattering 4 hits, 3 strikeouts, and 3 walks) for the win. Loeffler, batting in the lead-off position for the second day in a row, provided the offensive spark going 3-for-3 (2 doubles and a single) with a sacrifice bunt and scoring two runs.

  • TCU:
    • Yarbrough popped up to 1b.
    • Lunsford flew out to cf.
    • Huffman singled up the middle -- a pretty lucky hit since he was trying to check his swing when his bat made contact with the ball.
    • Dunn walked. Huffman moved to 2b.
    • Connally reached on a 6-4 fielder's choice.
  • Texas:
    • Loeffler doubled to the lf corner.
    • Gutierrez reached on a perfect bunt down the 3b line. The pitcher, fielding the ball, had no play. Loeffler moved to 3b.
    • Harkrider hit a sacrifice fly to cf. Loeffler scored.
    • Cridland grounded out to 2b (4-3). Gutierrez moved safely to 2b on the hit-and-run.
    • Gutierrez stole 3b during Johnson's at-bat.

    • Connally singled down the line in lf. Walsh did a great job of cutting the ball off and keeping Connally from getting an extra-base hit.

    • Dover grounded into a 6-4-3 double play.

    • Spiker grounded out on a bunt attempt down the 3b line (1-3) -- good play by Meyer.
